Is Climbing Injury-Free?

Rock climbing may seem super-risky, but it may actually be safer than the treadmill.

In a study in the journal Environmental Medicine, researchers studied injuries at the 2005 World Rock Climbing Championships in Munich, where 550 climbers competed, and concluded that indoor rock climbing has an injury rate of 3.1 per 1,000 hours. To put this in perspective: Soccer’s injury rate is 30.2 per 1,000 hours, and treadmill workouts have a rate of 6 per 1,000 hours.

Good! I have been climbing for almost 30 years, lost my fingertip ones but nothing else. Among all my climbing friends only two injuries. However, mountain climbing is another thing, so it is good that you write indoor climbing.
